Default Where do you guys find your parts?

I just traded for a 1990 Heritage. The top end of the engine has been rebuilt, clutch, brakes, charging system--all new. Just a few bad spots in the paint, but mostly the bike is in great shape. There is a bad spot on the chrome in the headlight bucket. Where do you guys find replacement parts for odd items? (Besides here of course) Is there a salvage dealer or network?

Very nice look'n 90 Heritage - awesome shape. I mostly find parts for older scoots on the internet (eBay, Craigslist) & J&P cycles. These forums work well too - definitely use the FS & parts wanted section(s).

I find some parts from my Sportster on the side of the road if I'm lucky. For the ones that get away there's Ebay, J&P cycles, the classified section right here on the forum, and about a zillion other sites that can be had by doing an internet search. Parts for older Harleys are readily available. For a 1990, I would think that the HD dealer might even have parts. My local dealer shocked me once when they found me an obscure carb part for my 75 sporty. Cost me about $1.75.

E bay, swap meets, motorcycle salvage yards. Go to bike shows and talk with people. There are people who have parts, you just need to meet the guy who either has the part your after or knows someone who has the parts your after.
Also there are plenty of repop and aftermarket parts, if you wnt to go that way.

You also might consider getting your headlight bucket rechromed.

Nice scoot, Good to see another 90's Evo still kicking!! Since I've had my 92 I've been most successful on EVILbay. You just have to be paitent and persistant, and research the seller BEFORE you bid. You can still find SOME parts from Zanotti's too.

I usually find my parts stashed in a bucket under a few greased up oily rags in the corner of my shop...

OH! You meant 'new' parts? I start in jpcycles.com, where I find a price and a part number. From there, I do a little online 'comparative shopping'. Then, once I find the right price, I send somebody I never met all the cash I have left in the bank.

A couple weeks later, I am either as happy as a child on Christmas morning or I'm looking for a physical address where I can take all my hostilities out on the guy who didn't tell me they don't stock those parts so they have to be ordered from some place else... a couple more weeks and my parts are USUALLY here!

J&P Cycles, Chicago Harley, Baker Drivetrains, eBay, craigslist, and you can also find people at local bike nights who knows somebody that knows somebody...
