Has anyone purchased or seen the new HD LED Headlamp and auxiliary lamps on a bike? Are they worth the dough? Do they look as sweet in person as they do in the catalog? Let me know your thoughts.
I don't know what they are selling for, so I can't say.
I do know one of the developers of the first approved LED headlight posted here recently that they most definitely are worth the investment. He claimed that they did extensive abuse tests on the bulb including kicking it and dropping it repeatedly. This should mean that no amount of vibration or abuse should cause a premature burnout. Their is no element to burn out, and the white light they produce is supposed to be better for ones eyes at seeing whats ahead.
I look forward to seeing this for myself. I might invest in one someday, but it's not anywhere near the top of my wants list as of yet, however it is going to be less expensive that my upcoming 103 build! (-:
My silver bullet turn signals were worth every penny. They are very bright, look good, and they were pretty easy to install. I can not say about headlights because I don't have one and haven't seen one.
I'm gonna guess that there is significantly less current draw. At $399, its a bit pricey but I'm unhappy with my low beam during the day (05 Dyna, new to me) and that LED kit looks like an option to running the high beam all day as well as adding the visibility (by others) I'd like to have. the HD site says "available Sept 2010".
I was looking into getting something a little brighter for the tail - like to make sure any cagers coming up on my rear see me. Looked at a few options all quite expensive. On the way to work today a guy passed me on his SG and he must have had one because there was no missing his riding light tail...and when he put on his brakes WHOA...like a freaking supernova. No missing that...
Back in 2006 i bought the LED turning signals in the front and back along with the low-profile brake light. Knock on wood, they're still running and look great. I know I'll end up buying the auxiliary lights and headlamp in LED from Harley. I'll just wait for the 20% sale from my local dealer.

For $399.00 I can buy all kinds of other needy goodies! I guess it will be some years before the prices go down to where I would even consider one!
I'm outa here! Lol
The comparison photo is impressive. Since I do a fair amount of night riding and was considering some kind of aux. lighting, looks like this may be the way to go for me.
