You agree?
Anyways. I have alot of people tell me "I can't believe you pay for an over priced Harley Davidson." "Tons of other bikes are just as good/better, and they are way cheaper." Anyone else hear something close to this?
Well I have been thinking about it lately, and I think the main reason I bought a Harley is because of the culture. When you buy a Harley your not only buying a bike, your buying passage into a way of life. To me the extra money is worth the following that comes along with it. I won't deny it, Harley motorcycles/merchandise is quite a bit more expensive that other motorcycle brands. To me though, its worth the extra change for the bike and the community you get to become a part of.
I know everyone says its not about what you ride, its just about riding(which I totally agree with). I'm just trying to look at it from a different perspective.
I agree with you. The Harley culture is the HUGE difference - riding a Harley is an entirely different thing than "riding a motorcycle." Then there is also the afct that once you get used to harley and you look at the "fit and finish" of metrics, as JunkHead said, there is a world of difference. I have seen the "Harley-copy Hondas parked and at first said "That Harley looks like crap - what's with the cheap-o chrome, etc."

I rode bikes for 30 years before deciding to get a touring bike. At the time the most comparable metric touring bike was the gold wing. Took some thinking but I decided to save a few $$$ and got the Harley.
