Ill say this much about the solid yellow lines and then im through.
You are approching a curve with no sight distance, this is DOT speak, means you fukin cant see whats comin from the other direction!
We put the solid line down to tell you its not safe to pass, period.
Now, you cant see whats coming, your going to jump out there and pass someone and kill my family or some other person dear to me because you want to go faster and cant wait for a safe passing zone? Screw you.
I work for the state highway dept. I know why the lines are there and what they mean, solid = no passing.
And I used to work for Mack Trucks Inc. when they had a plant here in my hometown in NC.
My supervisor was transfered here from Penn. and came in one day and was all upset, I asked him why?
He had got a ticket for passing on the right shoulder of the road when someone was turning left in front of him.
I dont know if it is or not but he said it was legal in Penn.

Passing on a double yellow is illegal in Maine. It used to be legal. Some of the older folks up here don't know that the law$ have changed.

Easy, he was on speaker phone trying to hold onto a weak signal.

Too funny! LOL

On a serious note, I am trying to figure out why so many here are splitting hairs over this yellow line thing. It has absolutely nothing to do with 15 idiots beating up a guys car.

Yellow or no yellow, a car can still turn left in front of you. I've had it happen and it was a real close call that I did not hit him. It taught me more about avoiding the next one. That lesson has paid off since because now I can spot them without making it a close call.
Apparently this yahoo learned it with a few scratches on his bike and his knuckles. He didn't have to be a sore loser about it.

I had another episode where an old guy backed his van out onto the road in front of me. It was another very close call. Screeching tires with me accepting the fact that my face is going to be plastered in the side of his panel van. Again, I dodged a bullet. If anybody deserved an ***-whoopin', that driver did!
But when I looked in his eyes and heard his apology, there was no way I could take it out on him. **** happens, people screw up.

When there is no "intent" to harm me,....... how can I harm him?

I still think he deserved whatever he got, cause one day he looked at a Plymouth Sundance and said "hell yeah! How much?"
