Default I finally got the nerve to cut my windshield..

All i can say is i can't beleive the difference 2" made. I was reading through here the other week and i ran across a thread about wind buffeting and the cure for it was cutting the windshield. i'm one of those guys who will tackle any job if its gonna save me a buck or two. luckily someone provided a youtube link on how to do it.. the video was dead on and it came out damm near perfect. people were looking at me like i was crazy riding up the road with blue painters tape covering my windshield. I just wanted to make sure i didn't need to cut anymore off before the final sanding of the edge.

its funny that no matter what one little thing you do to a bike that it leads to another and another and another.. it all started with a new seat, then risers, now the w/s..

I cut mine also by myself, was kinda worried that I would F it up, but all turned out ok. I sanded the edges untill 220, then good enough.

You guys got guts. I just got a 2" shorter one from J&P and kept the original. The shorter shield does make a big difference.

how much that cost ya ? a HD shield was $150.00... more than enough to make me try it myself..

I used 400 on the final sand and it dam near matches the original.. a 600 probably would..

couple other tips..

dont change direction in your cutting like they show. just stay steady and one direction.

1/2 way though the cut i stopped and taped the cut piece to the lower section to keep it from vibrating and flopping around since i was supporting the top of the shield with my free hand.
