Default Twisted Question

My wife laid her pride and joy Deluxe down this past weekend in a freak accident. The good news is she is ok. The bike on the other hand is not.

I'm in the process of putting it back to rights and looking for advice on ways to check the fork tubes for twist while I have it apart. I've thought about referencing the axle to the frame but have to believe there are other or better methods.

Thanks in advance!

i would just make sure the pinch bolts on the tree's are tighten to the proper torque. The sliders will "twist" without the axle. So that will line back up with the axle inplace.

Other than that i don't know what else would "twist".

Thanks. The handle bar risers are rubber mounted on that bike and the rubber mounting set up is definitely tweaked. Not sure if the bars or the risers are bent but will be able to tell when I get them off and put them on a flat surface. I've had forks twist before due to a crash and hoping to be able to see if they are true before I reassemble.

Thanks again.

Unless the bike hit something bent tubes shouldn't be a problem . As for checking " twist " take the front fender off sit on the bike off the side stand and try to square the upper tree with the rest of the bike till it looks true don't worry about the handle bars yet . Now look down the front end from the riders position , wheel looks straight your probably ok , pointing off and your tweaked . If it is off loosen the lower clamp bolts , stand with the tire held between your knees firmly and twist the bars a bit and see if that puts you back in true . If not start looking for bent parts .

PS works the best with 2 people to steady the bike and be sure to re-torque all bolts when done .
