Brake switch maybe. That would affect both cruise and your brake light.

If that doesn't work, try changing the light bulb in the tail light. Sometimes the filament will break and cross with the other filament causing a short.

Most likely cause is the plunger on the brake light switch in the brake lever housing. Disassemble and lube plunger.

New grips? If yes you probably broke your switch on the front brake lever.

HD break light switches are famous for going out-replace it with an aaftermarket one and it will probably last for ever.

As rodnock said, check the bulb first. The filaments can short, it happened to me. I spent 3 hours trying to trace a short and it was the bulb. The front brake switch, is in the switch pod. This switch is easily damaged, when you remove the switch pod to change bars or grips. There is no after market replacement for this one.
