I worked for a company that sells automotive parts (OEM shock absorbers) directly to assy lines of Nissan, Bombardier, VW, GMC, Chrysler, Ford, among many others. Impact dampers (being part of the suspension and drive train assys) are rated as SECURITY PARTS, parts that just as wheels, when they fail, can cause serious injury or death (and of course HUGE law suits). I just don't understand how a business with such chitty quality (a huge numbers in defective parts per million) is still in business... unbelievable! You guys don't have a regulatory entity to audit those companies and has the authority to shut the down?

Mimo.

One of the reasons I am not a fan of aftermarket parts, unless it's something cosmetic--there's usually a fitment problem of some sort. Happened last year with my Fatboy. Previous owner installed aftermarket chrome controls & master cylinder--would not work correctly with the stock brake light switch OR master cylinder rebuild kit. Had to replace everything with stock HD stuff so it would all work correctly. Half a grand.
