Default Duluth Trading "Blacktop Jacket"

I just received my new "blacktop jacket" from Duluth Trading Company today. It's their motorcycle jacket made form their "fire hose" canvas.

For a while I've been looking for a good, textile cool-weather jacket for commuting in the fall, but I have not been happy with any of my synthetic fiber ones.

Well, after a 45-minute test ride, I can say this jacket is amazing! It is lined with windproof fleece that really is pretty windproof below 90mph. Has many of the standard biker jacket features, and is cut generously for the riding position. Not binding or restrictive in any way.

Really happy with the purchase!

If anyone is looking for a cool-weather textile jacket to add to your biker wardrobe, or an alternative to a leather jacket for whatever reason, this thing will not disappoint.

Heard about Duluth Trading's biker stuff here. HDF comes through again!

They have some very tough jeans, as well. You will enjoy having the jacket: it's like some of the Filson stuff, but with zipper cuffs.

I bought a pair of their jeans, too. And, yeah, the jacket's zipper cuffs and zillions of inside pockets are great. It really is a riding jacket, not just a work or field jacket. Just went out for the evening errands, now that it's cooled off here in Montuckey. The jacket is amazing!

Ever since I lived in Seattle, I always was a fan of Filson stuff (they're a Seattle company). I have worn through their "shelter cloth" stuff and their "tin cloth" takes forever to break in. Excellent stuff, though, but I have watched it get more and more expensive over the last 20 years. But the Duluth stuff seems just as heavy-duty and is a quarter of the price!!!

Maybe everyone's heard of Duluth Trading before but it's new to me Way tougher than Carhartt for about the same price.

dang!

Do you find yourself attracted to fire hydrants while wearing the jacket? ; )

It does seem like good stuff, but, yeah, they could use some help with marketing/branding. I mean, it's a hose.

Why not call it "fireman tough canvas" or something?

Their "Buck Naked" line of underwear is great for riding in hot weather. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Duluth Trading has some excellent items...everything I've bought from them was pretty sturdy and hard to wear out. I've also read some excellent reviews about their pants...some riders have met pavement on them and come out okay after the slide.
