Toastman - those Evil Apes are sick! I can definitely see a set of those in chrome on my bike.
Freefall - THANKS for the 411 on ShiptoAPO.com. I will definitely check them out. That would be a nice solution to a frequently recurring problem me and the mrs. have been experiencing over here the last 2 years.
Outlaw1969 - good to know that Hill Country Custom deals with other manufacturers. It would be sweet if they can hook me up with the handlebars I like and the corresponding cable kit.
Right now I'm leaning toward the Wild1 Outlawz. I just like sharp corners at the bottom - gives it kind of a chopper like. The Evil Apes also really caught my eye. Flyin' Apes (by Carlini and also by LA Chopper) are still in the running too. If anyone has pictures of these bars on your bikes, particularly the Outlawz and Evil Apes, please post them.
Thanks to everyone for your input. This forum is great.
Thanks to all who contributed to this thread. I ended up going with the black 14" Carlini Evil Apes. I got them through Hill Country Customs. They were able to put together the whole package: Carlini's, black cables/brake lines, and wiring extensions. I just gave them the make/model of my bike (2008 Sporty), and they figured out all the dimensions. And they also ship to APO. I'm very happy with the Carlini's and also with HCC for their excellent service and the package they put together for me.
I'm happy to also say that I just recently completed my winter project and have been up and running for the last week or so. I'm really happy with the way the apes look and feel on the bike. MUCH better than the stock drag bars. They were both uncomfortable and unsightly (in my opinion). Next project is the engine guard with highway pegs - the final piece for my crusing comfort this summer in Korea!
Here are a few pictures of the completed installation.

I like Wild1's too. I ALMOST went with the black Outlawz, but I like the way the vertical bars on the Evil Apes bend. Either one would have been a great choice IMO.

looks great , glad to see you got the job done !! you'll love having your wrists in a natural position with the small amount of pullback carlini builds into their bars. really changed the look of your bike for sure
