We can whine and scream all we want. We are a very small minority on the road. It is what it is. Lots of towns cracking down on loud motorcycles. E.G. on towns I am aware of noise sensitivity (Aspen, Co) I go careful thru the town. In California, I exercise throttle caution in towns as well.
Years ago, I flew thundering F4 Phantoms out of SoCal. Believe me a Phantom in full burner is way louder than about 50,000 short piped Harleys. Anywho, the airfield I flew from was there WAY before the surrounding communities built up, and there was noise for years, decades. We would say, hey the thundering you folks whine about is the sound of freedom, screw off. Eventually the field was closed (El Toro) and moved to Miramar.... I bet the folks around Kearney Mesa to La Jolla enjoy the noise from F-18's these days. Lot of noise restrictions evolved thru the years.
The worst for me, in commercial aviation was the noise restrictions at John Wayne, Orange County. At takeoff there, very shortly after lift-off, you have to pull power WAY back and gently climb out till far from the field. We (aviators) didn't/don't like that (noise reduction enforcement) as well..... but we were the minority.
Bottom line, noise enforcement is coming and will probably accelerate for revenue enhancement for localalities suffering from declining tax revenues.
CenterLine I'm envious I'm a freak for those old F-4's just love that aircraft and I'm not a pilot . Knew a couple guys who flew them in combat , some hairy **** .
Sorry didn't mean to left turn the thread .

Not to jack the thread, but when you were at El Toro. I just mine have hung your ordnance for you.
we don't have to roll over on this. recently my state passed a no smoking law covering any food service area even outdoors. well the boys at the vfw up north told the state to stick it. we fought in ww2 and korea and not only are we going to smoke in our building but we are going to advertise that we are doing it and the fact that the state can't do anything to stop us. thus far hundreds of veterans orgs. have followed suit and the state will not take action. unified resistance will render this group impotent.

Veterans and bikers, are not viewed the same by the higher ups.
