I wear Redwing 980 lace up motorcyle boots. I bought them a couple years ago. They were made in USA. I think this style was discontinued though.

I wear Aerostich Combat Touring Boots for long trips and bad weather. I have the tall model but they make a shorter one called Lite. These boots are really tough and overall they rock!

I also have HH Harness boots. They are great.

I wear Red Wings everday.
I wear my work boots for the
drilling rigs, and for riding the
bike.

They might not be the best,
but I've never had a better
pair of boots.

Redwings / been wearing them for 20 + yrs. you cant go wrong w/ them on comfort, price or duribility plus there made in USA. Try a pair if you dont like them sell them on ebay and get most of all your money back.

I didn't read all the posts, but has anyone suggested Double H (HH) boots? I've had a pair of their harness boots for years and they are still in great shape. My niece has a birthday present pair of their engineers boots that she wears every day for work, and she has had them for about 3 years now. Great boots.

I wear the Combat Lite Touring boots by Aerostich and these are comfortable, protective, waterproof (especially with the right dressing) and most of all, appear to be very long wearing and they grip the road well when you put your feet down.

The Lites are very highly recommended!

Interesting….if you go to redwingshoes.com, their search engine comes up with a zero when you search for model #2990. And the only engineer type boot they show is the #998, which is different than the 2990. If you go to Red Wing Europe, their web site shows and lists the 2990, maybe that’s why these particular ones are made in China.

You can however, purchase the 2990 from many places on the web here in the US. The irritating part is that they are still getting 230 bucks for a Chinese made boot when all other Chinese equivalents are half that.

Personally, I can’t buy footwear online, I have wide feet and a shallow arch, I must try on shoes or boots before buying them. I would say that 98% of all shoes and boots are going to make my feet hurt. I know most people are not like that and can buy online. Everyone’s dogs are different, for me, every Red Wing I have ever tried on does not feel right, but again that’s me. I did try on the HD Big Sur, they felt better for me but way too heavy. I got to have a light boot…heavy sucks!

Of the many that I have tried on, what felt the best so far is the HD Radcliff, which I’m told has/is being discontinued. The pair I tried on was a half size to large, my size they were out of. I thought about buying them online since I know how they feel and some places are still selling them. But I would still like to try on my actual size before buying.

Here's the HD Radcliff:

I wear Dr Marten's Heritage Ironbridge Steel Toe 8 Tie Boot. Comfortable and sturdy.
