Default Screaming Eagle head problem

I have a 2001 sortster engine that I put heads on. The problem I am having is that the s&s intake manifold that i have wont bolt on to the rear head but it will bolt on the front head. The bolt pattern on the rear head is much larger. The bottom hole is about an inch off. The front is perfect. The guy I bought the heads off of told me they were for 2000 and up sporty models. I could use some help with eaither a part number or just some advice. I know I can take the heads off and drill and tap a new hole in the rear jug but I was just wondering if I am missing something. I have been to the dealerships and talked to my buddies. Nobody has an answer for me.

You should post pictures...it would make it easier to figure out. From your description, it almost sounds like you have 2 front heads and the bolt pattern that doesn't fit is actually for the exhaust. Post some pics!!!!

I think after doing some research what I have is a set up for fuel injection...now I need to figure out how I'm going to put a carb on it. I might be drilling and tapping.

You didn't say what motor you have, 883 or 1200. For what it's worth, 2004 and up 1200's have Buell Thunderstorm heads.

The heads are marked front and rear. They are installed in the correct place. The engine is a 1200 2001 sportster...and they are sreaming eagle heads not buell heads.
