Nothing wrong with Shell gas, I use it almost exclusively. The station where you bought your gas probaly put regular in the premium tank and diluted down the octane. Call the cops.
Ya, I believe it. To the poster who says all gas is identical... dude, i'll bet you think you ol lady would never cheat on you, your old pickup is the same as a brand new one, and there is no difference between a walmart steak and a $50 dollar steak dinner... Just saying, the pipeline product is NOT what you are buying at the pump. MY BIKE RUNS LIKE SHYT ON MOST PUMP GAS. IT AINT NO FUKING DREAM. SHELL (IN THE D/FW AREA) RUNS BETTER THAN MOST.
I run 92-93 octane gas, Lucas Octane Boost, and STILL get a ping on hills and the mountains of Pa,MD,WV. I had the bike in for new intake gaskets, cut some of the ping out but it still does it. If I roll the throttle on heavier, the ping goes away. I guess it makes it a "rich" condition then.
We went to N & S.C. and Tenn last year From Fl with a rd glide and nightster both have Sert in then and are tuned Never had them ping pop spit or sputter and Rd glide 50 mpg and Nightster 52 mpg
Around here, Shell and BP have some problems with moisture in their tanks (main area holding tanks). Sunoco and Marathon are what I look for. Have not had a problem with either of them but had to replace fuel filter and gas with BP in my truck.
In Southern CT the stations are having water issues... was on the new yesterday. FYI all CT riders...
Haven't read all the posts but when I saw the thread, knew I had to respond. Speaking only for my bike, agree with the OP, it's not going back in unless it's my only option. Bad experience!
