Took the wife on our first poker run, nice day for a ride in Jersey. We are right behind a group of about 7 or 8 bikes making a left, all of a sudden, I see a bike low side and slide to the curb, Bike right behind him, guy and lady same thing, low side and slide to the curb. I pull over, the riders are not seriously hurt. Bike number 1 was a senior citizen on a nice, old school Norton Commando. His leg was bleeding but all he could care about was his bike. I lifted his bike for him (left mirror and gear shift gone), told him to sit and relax, he was having none of it. My wife called 911. Second bike was a beautiful Harley Ultra Glide. The guy was out of commission with a shoulder injury, his wife was shaken but looked OK. Some guy in a mini van pulled over and helped me get the bike upright. Cops show up, I ask if anyone needs anything else from me and get a couple of thanks from the riders. We continue our ride, I couldn't get the image of that old guy so broken up about his old Norton out of my head the rest of the day.
My only other comment is many riders on the run, rode by without stopping.....
I believe the day if the brotherhood is long gone. I used to drive truck for a living and if you broke down there would be 3 other trucks stop t help before you even got stopped. Now days they try to take your door off when you are trying to get out of the truck. I see it many times on here also, too many out for number 1. It takes a special breed to be a true biker, most now days just bought the bike to look cool. You did the right thing and that old man on the Norton will never forget it.
I agree with all the above comments. That being said if you were the only one that stopped, then yes somebody else should have stopped to help out. On the other hand 20 others for example would probably create more of a problem than a help. There is a balance and sometimes you have to really be careful that you are not creating more of a problem. Glad everybody was mostly OK. Good for you for lending a hand.
I watched a guy not payin attention on his bike and he rode off the road,
I was driving a City bus at the time , I pulled over and took him to the hospital
told the other passengers there would be a little delay , they said no Problem
I had a similiar situation this weekend in our local mtn's where a Sportster rider in out group had gone down in front of me due to lack of cornering clearnace and too much corner speed. We were doing approx. 20 mph, but because he wasn't wearing any gear he was pretty tore up unfortunbetely. I immediately pulled over and was able to lift his bike off his leg with 2 other riding buddies.
I couldn't believe how many other riders went by without even throwing out an "are you guys ok?"
..if 3 or 4 people had already stopped, that's enough..I would look to see what caused the two lowsides..I came up to a crowded stoplight yesterday, smelled really strong diesel fuel..when we took off, there it was..a tractor trailer had a spill that had covered on whole lane..I went around it..scary stuff..about a half mile down the road, LE had the truck pulled over..

I agree. Sometimes when there is enough help it's best to keep going or you cause more of a problem. But if it was obvious that more help was needed then thats not right. Glad it was only property that was damaged
