Default Duh!

Little chilly out this morning, thought I would wear a pair of steel toe boots instead of my usual shoes. First time I wore the boots riding the bike. Mistake.

The steel toe boot is much higher in the toe than my usual shoes. While at a stop sign, went to put my foot down and the boot didn't slip out from underneath the shift lever as easily as my usual shoes. Just a moments hesitation, but enough to lose my balance and down went the bike.

Bent the shift and clutch lever, a few minor scratches on the derby cover
Guess it's true. It's not "if" you're going to drop the bike, but "when"!

The steel in the boot will make your feet colder too.

Yups! some people claim to have never had an accident or even dropped their bikes, ever! All I can add to that is their day is coming, and or their lying. It's going to happen when you least expect it, and over some relatively simple matter like not getting your foot down in time, or slipping on some gravel, a dust pile, or even a single leaf can do it.
Some get caught under the bike and get get it back up themselves at that point.
Glad you weren't hurt.

aka Bob

Sorry to hear that you dropped your bike, I did the same thing with a brand new pair of boots in the dealers parking lot infront of a sign up table for a poker run.

well it is all in the learning.

Take care.

Crash bar will protect those levers and handlebars. I have a scratched derby cover also.

Glad to hear it wasn't to bad! Since I ride the bike to work just about everyday and also wear steel tips, I adjusted the shifter for this very reason.
