Question Won't Start, Any Ideas?

I own a 2006 Dyna Wide Glide. When I turn on the ignition switch I don’t have the yellow check engine light nor is the fuel pump activating to start the bike. I have plenty of power for headlights, high beams and horn. I also have no power for a battery harness I installed for a heated vest. Up until now everything was working fine. My ignition switch has been a bit temperamental over the past six months especially if I get caught in a heavy rain. But usually after it dries for a few days it is fine. I am wondering if the switch is shot. With only a couple of weeks left to ride this season I hate to leave it parked in the garage. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check the fuses, check the wiring that you did. Do all the simple things first. Especially the wiring that you did.

You can remove the console and disassemble the ignition switch to check the contacts. May have some corrosion there, especially if you have had issues with it before when wet.

I would check for corrosion also. If not at the ignition switch then at the up at the hand control switches (the emergency shut down switch) as it is part of the system that interrupts the power to what you have mentioned. Just jump the terminals and see if your light and pump come on.

Check your relays. I have an 09 FXDC and one of the relays just decided to stop working so the fuel pump no longer turned on. Maybe check those out and it'll fix your problem.

If the switch were shot, how would you get power to lights, horn, etc.?? That's the wrong path. Look for something else.
