Ok after the radio in the hack was almost stolen the other night, found it dangling by a few wires, and it isnt much good without the face plate. I am in the market for a good alarm with a perimeter sensor. I have an 08 Ultra Classic with a Escort Sidecar, this was added so the young man that lives with us, who is wheelchair bound, to be able to enjoy the open road, he loves it. We installed his own stereo( Sony/w/removable faceplate) a Alpine amp, and two Alpine marine speakers. He likes big band music, and I dont, so he can listen to his music in the hack and I can listen to my music on the bike, it works out good for the two of us. But some low life decided they need the radio, and didnt succeeded, so now the search for a good alarm that will work for both. Thanks ahead of time for any information that you might have.
Honestly an alarm probably isn't what you are looking for. How many times have you walked through a parking lot and heard the alarms and seen the lights blinking? No one pays much attention anymore.
If a criminal really wants it they will 9x's out get.
But back on topic if you are truly concerned although I have never tried one there are alarms that send alerts to your cell phone. Now this is assuming you are willing to confront them if they are there when you arrive.
I believe the stock alarm has an upgrade where it also buzzes a key fob you have on you. Not sure what the total range of it and its for moving the bike like the stock one but you can look into it and maybe get it upgraded? Hope it helps... maybe hook up a wire to the stereo so it shocks the **** out of someone trying to steal it just remember to wear gloves to change the stations
I would love to just use the I-pod but the young man who we added the sidecar for, well his ear cannels will not accept any ear buds, but it is a good idea. Guess the search continues.............
