Default Highway Goo

I think I must have run through a fresh glob of that stuff the highway folks use to glue reflectors to the road. It's all over the under side of the bike, the inside of the fenders, the bottom of the tail light, on my oil cooler and anywhere else the tires could throw it. I'm trying to get it off and so far alcohol, WD-40 and naptha haven't touched it. Any suggestions for a solvent/cleaner that won't harm my finish or eat my tail light? Thanks.

I have no idea what that glue is. Try taking the bike to a good body shop. They might have a suggestion, but if it's something that can't be removed, find out who the contractor was, take pictures, and present them with an estimate from a body shop to repair the damage. Don't wait too long, do it as soon as possible.

Also, try your department of public transportation. They should pay for that.

Goo gone is pretty good for a lot of stuff, but don't know about the stuff you found. Agree with previous posts about DOT and/or contractor.

If it is still tacky, try laquer or epoxy thinner.
The stuff you're dealing with is a two part epoxy, that when hard is impervious to gas, oil, diesel fuel, etc.
It is some wicked stuff and may need special attention.

Just curious, were the reflectors being installed by a contractor or the government? "Depending on circumstances", you can go back to the installer and have them pay damages. That's what their insurance is for.

Sorry this happened to you.

DO NOT use laquer thinner or other strong solvents on plastic, like a tailight.

That stuff is like a rock.

Nothing is going to dissolve it.
I wouldn't do anything but take some pictures of the damage, and the road if you can. Then contact the contractor as stated above.
