any suggestions on a good prestocked toolbag? i have noticed some with uselessly short handles on the tools in an effort to keep the weight and maybe the size of the kit down. build your own?
I have always carried a Cruz Tools Outbacker in a leather sheath on my belt. Its gotten me and others through many a loose screw or battery cable etc.
Although my new Dresser, came with a tool kit I leave in the saddlebag,, I still carry and seem to always use the Outbacker. Kind of a Swiss Army Knife of tools.
If your going to do it, do it right. There are several tool packages out there, one of them listed the tools in the kit individually, find the tools you need for your specific bike, then pick up some Craftsman tools at a garage sale and build your own. Better tools, and cheaper in price..
I bought a CruzTools metric kit years ago for my sports bikes. I've only used it a few times, but when you need it nothing else will do. When I got the Road King I just added a few wrenches for the Harley. What you need to add is listed on the CruzTools website. Another option is to look at the list on the website and buy the tools used at a yard sale or swap meet.
Something else I always carry is a tire repair and inflation kit. I think the company is called "Genuine Innovations." I've used this three times on the road, but not always on my bike. You have to take your time to do it right, but they work great and they can save a lot of time and frustration. The only work on cast wheels, and remember to replace the tire as soon as possible. ANd don't forget to repalce the co2 in the repair kit.
