Air Compressor Question?

I am about to invest in an air compressor. It would be for air drying after washing, general dusting, putting air in the tires, and done light air tool work. I have plenty of room in the garage but I'm concerned about getting the right size tank for the job and price. Craftsman sells a 125psi with 1 HP motor. It's $90 for a 3 gallon tank or $150 for the 7 or 12 gallon. Any input?

For what it sounds like you don't need anything large and that sounds like the right size.

That said, do NOT us it to dry your bike.

to do light tool work? I would suggest at least a 25 gallon tank. 1hp is very small. You will grow with your tool inventory and need more as you go. I say buy the largest you can and you will not need to upgrade later.

a large tank is important ,more important is how many cfm's it puts out if you want to run tools .

Get the largest you can afford. The more volume the better.

you should go with at least horse and a half , or two. And don't buy "oilless". Better to go with name brand, emglow or Dewalt.

Look on craigs. Always lots of used compressors on there. I think either one you want will work for what jobs you described, but I would spend the extra $50 to get the bigger tank.
