Good reason to start buying your Harley History books. The term HOG came from the early Harley racers more than 50 yrs ago and it stuck.
1960 is 50 years ago. The HOG/Piglet thing was supposedly a little earlier, like nearly 80 years ago, in the 1920s. I think you should take your own advice and invest in an HD history book. Funny, there is never any mention of the hog thing until the coffee table books of the '80s and '90s, and like I said before, the same 2 or 3 pictures. It really wasn't a thing.

Didn't sound right but then I don't know the origin either. Was looking at the "proof" and thinking they would have been called PIGLETS?? Wonder what Wikipedia or other sources say? Always thought the "hog" name stuck because the bikes were big and broad across the back like "hogbacks".
Looked it up; name came from the "hog boys"; farmers who raced the Harleys in the 1920's who carried a piglet as their mascot.

So the term 'bra' has been around that long? Amazing. And here I thought it would have been,"Hey, bro', you ridin' yer moto today?"
Maybe I'm not so old after all. hahaha
The difference between Bra and Bro is whether you're from Jersey or not
