Default Storage for Deployment

Well it's that time again. Time to head back over to the sand box for another 12 Months. I plan on taking it in for the 20k service so all the fluids will be fresh for storage. I know I need to put a fuel stablizer in the tank; and I want put a battery tender on it, but can the tender stay on the bike for 6 months at a time? Figuring if I come home for R&R and pull her out for a little spin. Also, should I put it up on a jack or will it be ok sitting on the ground? It will be stored in the garage(not heated). I was thinking about putting it in storage at the dealer but that's 75-100 bucks I could be saving for engine mods...lol Thanks in advance.

God Bless you and Best of Luck!... It seams to me that you have it all under control. I have done the same with my bikes. Yes, the tender would be fine for 6 months at a time and putting up on blocks wouldn't hurt. Jack'r up...

Winters in Ft. Bragg ain't too severe. You should be fine leaving it in storage without having it off the ground. You can leave a tender on it indefinately and have no problems. Just make sure it is a tender and not a tricle charger! A trickle charger will fry the battery if left on for extended period!

Definately DO put in some fuel stabilizer and do have a full tank when you store it.

I am not sure if this is necessary or not, but I might consider draining the tank when you get home and putting in fresh gas - even if you had stabilizer in the tank.

Thanks for your service bald1der ! My son-in-law recently got back from his second tour in Iraq. I am well aware of the sacrifices you are making. Come home safe!

Greetings,
About the only thing I would add is to run the motor for a while after you put in the gas stabalizer to circulate it thru the carb or fuel injection to protect everything you can.

And, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND COME HOME SAFE!!
