Never even seeing me on a bike, after being married for 30 years she didn't even raise an eye when I bought my 1st Harley (08 Sportster). Her only comment was, "where do I sit?". I put on the Sundowner with sissy bar. At the end of my 1st 2 months of riding alone she finally sat down to take her first ride. I guess she wanted to make sure that I knew what I was doing and wouldn't hurt her.
The rest is history!
AT HER REQUEST we upgraded to the Road King we now ride. I always make a point of coming back from the dealer with something for her also, a shirt or whatever. Gotta admit she looks hot in leather. Always thought we would fly off to different destinations (got my pilots license 25 years ago) but that never happened! This is our time now. Kids are all grown up and out of the house.
How about you?
Congratulation to you both. Yes life starts after kids grow up, it's the best. My husband and I are really enjoying this time of our lives, the grandkids, the quiet times and our rides together. Ride safe and enjoy.
And I thought I had the best one. LOL Been married for 51 years, and had a 1942-"45" when we started going together in highschool. I am 70 now, and she still rides with me on my FXSTC once in a while. I decided she was a keeper the first time I took her for a ride on the old 45. You take care of her, cause these kind are hard to find.
just about the same thing here. Did allot of riding on a 78 KZ650 years ago. The kids came around and we stopped riding. They're grown now, I got a 00 XL1200S that we quickly saw was not heavy enough for both of us. We now ride an 08 Fatbob which she wanted for us as much as I. Our women are something else.
Back in 93 when I bought my Harley we went to the dealer and I was looking at sportsters, I always liked them and still do. Then I saw the Heritage and started drooling. She say's " I thought you wanted a sporty?" I said I did but this is giving me wood, she say's "How many new Harleys are we going to buy in our life?" I said one. She said "Buy anyone you want then so I won't have to hear about it later." I said "Gee dearest thank you so much for the permission" she gave me the finger and I bought the Heritage. By the way when I asked her to marry me I couldn't afford a ring so we got engaged with a pull tab from a beer can and she wore it until I could afford a real one.
Before the kids she rode on the back of my KZ550 all the time. This ended in 1986 when the kids came along. I went into more dedicated sport bikes. The kids are mostly grown now, with only one left at home. In September I sold the last sport bike and bought a Road King. I got her a helmet and a backrest. In October, for the first time in 24 years, she went on a ride with me. We have had several weekend rides now and she likes it. She went out and purchased boots and a jacket. She likes when we meet friends for lunch and coffee. So far so good.

Yep, originally I was looking to get a dirt bike to ride in the woods in my retirement, but my wife said she wanted to ride on the back. So next thing you know we bought a Harley. She loves riding with me, I hardly ever ride alone. Tried to talk her into getting her own sporster, but so far she just wants to ride on the back.
I had two Hondas and one Triumph many years ago. First time back on two wheels in quite a few years. We've had it now since September 2010.
Love it.

Same story here, but my wife is about 50 pounds heavier after 29 years but the Road King carries her just fine .....
