eBay "DEALS"
Here are some hints...
Only buy from confirmed sellers with ratings better than 90%, and histories that go back more than a few weeks.
Spend a lot of time communicating with them before you try to make the deal.
Buy the vehicle or put the deposit on a credit card.
Ebay has a fraud protection guarantee on vehicles...

The guy currently has six bikes up for auction, and he has 132 feedback and his history goes all the way back to 2001.
It is very good to warn people about scams, but we don't have to be frightened. The truth of the matter is that more people are scammed everyday in the average large city by classified ads, than have ever been scammed on Ebay. People buy stolen bikes and cars or those with bad titles etc all the time on the street and never get their money back because there is no recourse. At least with Ebay you have a fighting chance.

Out of the 72 vehicle purchase transactions I have completed on Ebay exactly NONE have been a scam.
I have also sold 88 vehicles on Ebay, and NONE of them have been a scam.
The fact of the matter is that I can buy a vehicle at auction for well below wholesale, and then turn around and make a grand or two quickly by selling it on Ebay for a low reserve. I don't have to worry about in state sales tax, or dealers fees etc, so I can move them quick with low overhead. The fact is that it is quicker and cheaper to sell to someone on Ebay than anywhere else, plus I don't have to have an office or a bunch of strangers coming to my house. I have found that most of the guys I have dealt with on Ebay are the same.

Yeah, could be but you can't build a fake history on Ebay. It has taken me five years to get my seller rating, and it only takes one bad transaction to lose it. Behind the scenes on Ebay they have a ton of information to verify you and stop you from doing business if you sam people.. Most scams on Ebay right now involve smaller items and sellers with zero ratings.

I only wanted to point out that not everything on Ebay is a scam, and that with a little knowledge and research one can easily weed the scammers out. I don't know if this guy is a scammer or not, neither does anyone else. A lot of clues tell me that it is probably not, this is from my experience. After I talk to the guy, and find out what his deal is I may find that he his a flake, or I may find that he is not. I just don't like passing up an opportunity until I know wether or not it is okay.
I'm not saying your 72 transactions were scams. I am saying this one is, as are the others from this same seller.

One last thing.......Feedback does not mean anything if you only buy $1.00 and $2.00 items and then get 70 or 80 feedback, and then sell something that is a scam like this. One thing that wipes a lot of these scams away is to ask for a phone number so you can call them. Not 100% effective, but you can somtimes get a "feel" for the person. Always deal through E-bay. Look at this guys question at the end of the auction. Right away he wants you to email him at such and such address. This way you avoid having ebay involved.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I have been around E-bay for over five years and have a feedback of 163 and 100% positive. It al boils down to a little common knowledge. There is some deals on E-bay, but everyone of us know that a 2004 Harley such as this one is worth way more than 4500.00. I have seen these bike totally burnt to a crisp, and go for 2000.00. Completly junk they go for more......check it out....

I agree with you 100%, I for one will not deal with anyone I cannot speak with, or that I cannot verify their busines, checking account etc. I also have them send me a copy of the title, and then I do a VIN search, and call the DMV in whatever state it is registered in before I commit. I think this is what I am really trying to get across. Anyone can be scammed anywhere at any time. You have to be smart enough to find out. I just don't like it when it is immediatley identified as a scam, without knowing for sure. Just like I wouldn't want someone to say that it definatley is not a scam, without knowing either.
I have been on Ebay for 6 years and have over 22000 feedback. over 99% positive.
