Boy I thought it was rough until I heard six weeks with no scooter?!? Whoa! I ride to work just about every week. Not every day but a day or two per week even in the cold like we have now. I thought I was deprived. Shucks!
Not that the bike is parked for the winter here in Arizona, but you guys...and gals are making me miss my ATC and my CR 250R. I also miss the smell of the pit beef on the grill ...& race fuel and castor oil that was in the air at the Budds Creek Pro Motocross National every year. Talk about heavenly.
I think everybody that got to see the 2t bikes run will mention they miss the smell. It's just universally accepted as awesome.
I love my CRF450X, but I certainly wish it had the smell...
BTW, nitro was mentioned. That is fun in small doses, until you're 10 feet away from one of the cars running in the pits, and the haze of unburnt fuel from the exhaust wafts over to you and you're both momentarily blinded and asphyxiated.
used to use castrol the BEAN OIL way back (early 60) smells so good and will mask most racing fuel.
also coats metal parts so the smell will linger for a long time even had it after a complete overhaul onh my old dirt bikes ..
I know it. I hope the rest of winter will be mild. They're forecasting 60's for Friday and I'm off so I'm REALLY hoping the weatherpeople are right. I'm supposed to go look at a horse in Sandersville, GA and it will be an awesome ride on the bike.
You can also ride with the Great South HOGs on the 1st for our annual Frosty Bun ride to Buckner's for a big lunch. We'll meet at the Great South dealership at 9:30.

I fly a Powrachute Pegasus powered parachute. It has a 582cc Rotax oil injected, two cylinder, two stroke, liquid cooled engine. I keep it strapped down in a 7x7x14' trailer. It's too cold here in eastern Kansas to fly much in the winter time. So rather than do a lengthy prep for several dormant months, I go out to the trailer, drop the ramp door, open & secure the side entry door, clear out any loose debris, fire it up and let it completely warm up 100% at fast idle, for at least ten full minutes. Then I shut it down, plug the exhaust, and cover up the air cleaner. I try to do that once every month if I don't fly it. I'd think the Harley engine would benifit as well, keeping the seals lubed, and the cylinder walls scraped down & oiled up. Things seem to hold up better if they're used regularly, especially motors. My Harley is strapped down in the trailer at the moment, but I can warm it up in there the same way, or roll it out of the garage and do it there.
The holidays are great for family togetherness, but I'm always glad to see them gone.
I too love my family but it really doesn't grieve me when they go home(!); put my daughter on a plane back to Seattle this afternoon... I think
