Holes in the heat shields
So I'm planning on drilling "lightening holes" in the heat shields and got this crazy idea to paint the pipes underneath red. My bike is black with just some red trim around the tank logo so i thought adding a little more color to match might look good. Has anyone else seen this two/tone done on a bike or have it on theirs? I'd appreciate some pics so i can find out if the picture in my head is gonna translate into actually looking good.

You may want to wrap your (cold) pipes in red paper or paint some paper the color you want after you drill the holes so you can stand back and see what it looks like.

I've never seen a bike with contrasting painted pipes under the heat shields so i thought i'd give it a shot. I know I'd like the holes with black underneath so i'ts not a huge deal if i have to repaint 'em black if the red sucks. I'm drilling out the belt guard too. I'm not doing it to make the bike lighter, I just want to switch things up for fun. As far as the extra time, yeah it's pretty damn cold here right now and i've got a handful of stuff i want to do to the bike before it warms up. I've still been gettting a day or two of riding but it ain't all that comfortable with no windshield and an open-face helmet. I'll tell you what though; a nice base layer of under armour with the full hood is titty city. Keeps the ice cream headaches off

Personally I think that the little steps you are taking attending to detail will look great... each and everyone of us has unique tastes, but that doesn't rule out admiring someone else's original copied idea. Post pics of the finished product... would like to see the belt guard especially.
