New to the board and soon be 1st time Harley owner. I've been wanting a bike for awhile now but couldnt decide on the model. I eventually narrowed my choices down to the Road King Classic and SG. The SG won out in the end. Trouble is im not really happy with the color choices. Looks like i will likely get the Black Denim w/103.
Im new to all this bike model year stuff. When will the new color choices come out ? Also curious if any SG changes will justify waiting for 2k12 model and paying premium prices vs. winter purchase of 2k11 model.
TIA for your input! Oh and GO Hogs beat Ohio sTATe!
NO KIDDING!!! Who cares what color your bike is!!!
Seriuosly, I am in the same boat. I was going to purchase a new 2011 and was not crazy about any of the colors so I am holding off until I can see what 2012 has in store.
I really don't think that you will pay a premium for waiting as dealers are not really discounting 2011's quite yet (at least where I live).
My dealer will sell me a new bike at MSRP (no frieght or set up) for any 2012 I order. I suspect that you could find the same deal too.
I like the denim white of the new '11 Street Glide
But I'm not in the market cause for once I'm satisfied with what I have, well not really I'm throwing money at them, WTF

Reason: pertinent info
I think you should wait for the 2013 models....due to superstition many people will avoid the number 13 and the MOCO will have to sell out cheap to get rid of inventory.....or.......just get the bike now and ride!!!!!
I really do not forsee much of a change between the two model years unless harley finally comes out with a liquid cooled model. That being said, I would probly go for the 2011 model. Why wait and pay more money for an 2012 model if there really is no big dif from the 011. Another thing to wonder about is emission regs. the 2012 models might have tighter emission regs on them. We won't really know for awhile yet though.
Thing is ill be hunting outta state for a large part of April and May.Also overlapping the Turkey hunting is competative fastpitch softball thru July.
Here in Arkansas , consistent riding weather really wont start till March.
Dont get me wrong, Ill find plenty time to ride in those times but my schedule really doesnt open up till late July.
The 2012's don't come out until late summer or fall. And I don't expect any major changes until 2013 at the earliest because 013 with be the 110th. Go with the 2011 and enjoy the riding season.
