I have the Harley ones, and they're great for cold weather. They really help keep you warm. As others have said, be sure to remove them as the weather heats up.
I have the Harley ones. I think they are great. Cuts down the wind and even traps some of the engine heat around legs (my opinion only). All my buddies think they are to way to fugly to put on. To each their own.

There's a woman in Oregon that makes perfect size custom ones. With or without studs up the sides. In any color etc. Mine are coming in a few days. She charges about $80 but they are a real nice fit and look like they belong to the bike. None of that velco or dealing with straps/buckles. PM me if you want her name.
They are called 'lowers'.

I got em snapped on for my ride to work tomorrow. Supposed to be about 25. Will make it up to about 50 later on so unsnap and place in saddlebag for ride home. they compliment my leg chaps. No problem as long as you don't use them over 45 to 50.
I have a set of Dura-Shield brand I bought off ebay for $29.99 shipped. This is the second winter I've had them and they still look great and work really good to keep the wind off.
I don't think you really have to pay that much attention to the temp and worry about taking them off if it gets to 51 degrees though. As hot as it gets down here in the South in the summer running them a bit above 50 to maybe 60 shouldn't hurt a thing.
She made some "cow" ones to match a friend's black/white cow themed HD.
Not my style but very nice looking - for that person.
I ordered the studs to go with my FLSTC theme after seeing them on a friends bike.
Will get back to you by the weekend.
Her name is Shelley. Excellent person to deal with.
Just my .02 but I don't see much difference between these and the lower fairings on an Ultra Classic. They are designed to stay on all of the time. I do remove mine during the summers down here for personel comfort though.
