3) When building it I tried to stick with pieces that would have been available in 41.

I figured out that I had about $3K in it total a few years back. That's it in the background. I've recently switched the seat to an earleir one. The one in the pic was from '47.

meaning no disrespect but... I own a 65 and am wondering what makes this a 65...other than the piece of paper...

what is the vin number on the left case?
Well up here in Canada a motorcycle is registered by the frame number . I live in Ontario and the bike has a good Ontario registration , last plated in 2002 . The swing arm has been changed , it's a chrome one on it now . The motor was built up , with the Delkron short block , S&S carb and is "supposed" to be a 90 cubic inch . I realize that the bike has really NO value as a classic because the original motor is gone . That's why I will remove the fenders , rear light , handlebars , chrome rear frame covers , chain guard and maybe a few other parts and sell them to someone who needs them to restore an original 65 . the frame , wheels , brakes and motor will be kept and I will make fat tired bodder out of it . Something along the lines of a Russel Mitchel Exile Cycle style bike . As I dragge that thing out of the barn yesterday I thought to myself "this is the first time this bike has seen the sunlight in some time" . As of now , I have at least saved it from just sitting there and rotting . My intent is to get all the original old parts out there to people who need them so they will be used again and make something fun and usable out of the rest . I paid $1500 for it and before you tell me how screwed I got , it just isn't the same up here in Canada . There just aren't old Harleys laying around to be had for $200 or $300 . As a matter of fact I called 3 cycle salvage yards looking for an old Harley to make the bobber with and not one had a Harley and said they never have . That's just the cost of doing buisness up here . I've seen just rolling chasies with NO motor or trans and some missing parts being sold for $3000 here , to be used to build a bike . Thank you for all the encouragment on the project and I hope any good ideas or advice will be posted here as well .

Well I went out and "tried" to wash it up some . It's below freezing here so I could only do so much . Anyway , here's the "sort of" cleaned up pic .

Looks great- wonder if I could fit those fenders to my WG? (assuming you weren't going to keep them of course!)

No , I'm not keeping them . The rear fender is one of the old hinged ones too . If you're serious PM me and we'll work something out .

I remember the original thread from months ago where this bike was discussed. Glad to hear you were able to make the deal and by the way that's one hell of a find!

Since we are giving you opinions I would initially spend a little cleaning up the rusted chrome, fire it up and get it on the road. I wouldn't be in a hurry to "part it out" just yet...
