That machine has a past & a potential. I cannot wait to see what you do with it.
Please keep the story rolling.

When you figure out exactly what parts you are keeping, I would like to hear from you, because there are a couple of things I need for my 69.

I wouldn't exactly call it a 65 no matter what the title says. There's a lot of major mixed up parts on that bike. Someone knew what they were doing to get them to all work together though. Looks like a bike an old grease monkey biker would have rode in the 1980's just using whatever parts he could find to keep it going. Good deal!

I love the look of that bike and hell just remove the sissy bar and passenger pillon and it would look great. I do like the bobber idea as well. I think you got a good deal on it and should be able to make some of your money back on the parts you remove. Keep us posted on the progress.

it's a great find but i would bet you're going to have to tear that engine down, once the gaskets leak they don't stop. since it's winter i would just tear the motor down and rebuild it. i agree ditch that rear seat and sissy bar and just clean it up. i wouldn't do much else to it.

Wow - if that was just a quick bath in freezing temps imagine how it COULD look if you really had the time to get in there and do some real cleaning!! NICE work, and heck of a great deal. $1500 down here in Texas won't even get you a wrecked 20 year old Sportster. That bike there is a major SCORE if you ask me!!

Wow , your responses are great and well appreciated . That offer of garage space would be fantastic if I lived closer , thank you . I agree that just removing the sissy bar and passanger pad would make the bike look much better . And you never know , I might go that way in the end . The reasoning behind the bobber idea is two fold . First I have my Road King that I will be keeping as my main rider and in all honestly they look alot alike , right ? So the bobber would be a different looking bike , sort of my bar hopper . The second reason for the bobber idea is that since this bike is far from being in it's original condition , the original parts might help someone to restore a bike that IS still original and classic . So I'd be sort of keeping two old bikes on the road being enjoyed . Plus of corse the money from the parts I'd sell would help a little with the build . Damn I wish it was spring !

Congrats on a very nice find! At least you will have the winter to mull things over. You could certainly go in a lot of different directions with what you have to start with.
