Not quite what I had in mind. 25 mile ride on the interstate to work, it was 45˚ at 7AM, so I rode to work. The wind was gusting so hard and shifting so much, that I was actually scared. It was shaking my Road King around, and blowing me around as well. Fortunately I was able to keep it in my lane, but man it was not really much fun. I did not feel like I was really in control of the bike; it was more like hanging on for dear life with numb tingling hands. Fun stuff for sure....... Last warm day for a while though, so I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Something about wind advisories and all that sort of thing. My buddy lost the elevated sign and the front door of his business today. I hate to think what it would have been like riding the Sportster! Wind on the highway is why I got the big bike in the first place.
Hope everyone is safe.
Big bike show in KC tomorrow, I think I'll have to drive the car.
In Tacoma WA they have a bridge call galloping Gertie. A good cross wind will throw a bike sideways a lane.
When I used to cross it, Id always make sure no cage was in the other lane.
Battling the wind means higher speed. Scarier than hell but that's how you beat it.
Slower speeds=pushed around. Been there, done that. 883 Sporty, 45mph wind factor - not to mention the semi's additional effect. Hung on for dear life.
