Default Bike "footprint" in the garage?

Trying to plan a spot in the garage for the bike I'll get this spring. It's a two-car garage, with a Ford Escape and a Jeep Wrangler already calling it home.

So, the question is, how much space will the bike take? I'm thinking ti will fit in the same bay as the Jeep, either in front of it or behind.

Anybody want to measure the length and width of the space a 1200 Sportster or, say, a 2007 SG will take?

I used to fit a Sportster either in front or behind one of 2 vehicles in a 2 car garage, depending on the season. The sporty is very easy to move around and park at a 90deg angle to the garage door. Not so easy with a touring bike. I'd say it took up about 6-7ft long by 2.5ft wide.

I wouldn't put it in front of the spot that your wife or someone else uses! Not everyone judges distance well.

My Road Glide is 8 x 3 foot area. However, I moved my jeep out of the garage and put the entire space off limits to anything except the Roadie. I do have my priorities.

If you can pull it off...I recommend moving the wife's car outside (I tried that...only lasted 3 days)

I have a 2 car garage as well and park mine at the head parallel to the garage door. The footprint is 8 x 3, but you want at least 4 and preferably 5 feet on the width.

I put my fatboy in an area 8' x 3' using one of these: http://store.condor-lift.com/product...ailer%252dStop
Also nice to use when doing maintenance on the bike.

This is what I do. I recommend this too...

I inched my car forward until it was where I wanted it....then aimed the laser to hit the top of the steering wheel....this way...when I pull in and the red dot is on the top of the wheel, I park without worrying!

When I bought my house several years ago, I told the wife the garage and 1 bedroom (for my man cave) are mine the rest of the house is hers, so she parks her car in front of the house, my truck is parked in the driveway, and the SG is parked in the middle of my 2 car car garage, plenty of room.
