We've all seen the threads on people saying the coldest temps they'll ride in. I thought it might be interesting to see what is the coldest temp you've seen someone else ride in. I admit I'm a wimp and don't really care to ride much below 50 unless I have to. Yet I remember a couple of years ago driving to work in the dead of winter and was surprised to see a guy on a bike at a light. The sun was just starting to come up and it was 9 degrees out. I assume it was his only mode of transportation so my heart goes out to the guy, I can not imagine riding in those temps even with good gear.
If you live in ND and want to ride, you have to be out when it is cold. In the spring and fall we will regularly ride in the 20's. I have heated grips on the bike and my wife has heated gloves. Lots of layers and we will stay on the back roads at those temps so we can keep the speed down.
In HS i rode year around as it was my only way of getting around, Here in MD that was in snow , freezing rain whatever. now if it's dry i'm riding but for much shorter trips and just to get out. I rode one day last week it was in the 20s and not that bad at all.
I have good leathers, fullface ,heavy gloves but that's it. still didn't even take the time to put the small windshield I have on. I tend to stay off the highways and do just a backroads type ride. The Bike really likes the cold and really wants to move so I do open her up but just for a quick burst lol
I have not seen anyone crazier then me in the cold weather. I road my bagger in 0 F temps for about 15 miles (1/2 at highway speed). I wanted to see if it could be done and I wanted to charge up the battery a bit. I've road in 20 F many times on both the bagger and now the Road King. If it's dry, I'll ride ( except 100+ F).
I used to run in sub zero temps with a snowmobile suit but the sand on the road & the chemicals on my bike made me stop. Now I just tear it down every winter & replace things that might need it!

Young soldier lives up the road from me. I see him regularly riding to work in the morning. One day I saw him go by and it was 21 degrees outside. He rides a dyna with no windshield.
