Yeah Jersey is a wonderful place. The registration last year for my bike cost me over $60.00, then I was told no more inspections, then got a letter from the DMV saying to remove all the old reg and inspection stickers from the plate. So essentially the reg doubled, and I had already paid my Indy shop $25.00 for private inspection. As far as running the after-market a/c, believe me they aren't going to figure it out. But god forbid if you don't have at least 3 one inch squares of reflective tape on your helmet. Thats a ticket if the LEO is having a bad day.

Everything is illegal in New Jersey except Taxes..........Everybody knows you have to keep the fat cats fat.

I am waiting to see how they respond to my bike when I ride it up there to visit family in May. It also sucks that they don't/won't honor my CCW, so I guess I'll have to carry a large can of wasp spray, as everything for personal protection is Outlawed. Oh **** maybe I should not even go, I might end up in jail for just being me.

Had my bikes inspected in NJ when they had inspections, and they never said I needed any reflective tape on the helmet, ony had to be DOT approved.

Use one of the hi flow AC kits that fit under the stock cover. I run the K-N Vel stack system on mine. It replaces everything but the chrome football cover. Flows well, and looks stock. Not that I need to fool anyone, its just my preference.

Your other option, as has already been noted.....move to America

Poor guy...your registration was a whole $60.00! Be grateful...most of us pay 2-3 times that much easy.

It's winter, I'm bored so it's time to hop on the Soapbox !

To the OP - your getting a little wrapped around the axle on this. No one and I mean no one gives a flying f*ck what your air cleaner is in NJ. Period.

I've lived here my whole life and have taken down more miles than I can count with no turnsignals, no horn, no inspection stickers, aftermarket tail lights, chopped frames, drag pipes, etc.. Granted my 'Glide is not like that now, but both my sporty and FXR were like that for 17 years of riding in NJ and the NYC metro area.

The only way you will be hasseled is if you ride like a dick and bring unwanted attention to yourself or you decide that your going to hang out in places with faces that tend to draw the attention of law enforement... It is just common sense. And in either case, if you decide to do the former items mentioned, you'll have more to worry about than your air cleaner.

Jersey is far from perfect, and yeah the ccw thing pisses me off, but legally purchasing and owning firearms is not impossible at all. Just picked up a rockin' Remington 870 tactical shotgun last week with no hassles. Handguns, sure there is more paperwork, but it is still not that tough if your legal to begin with... Jersey is America and not everyone is a soprano or a jersey shore quido, there are still lots of local boys camping, riding, shooting and offroading, we just blend in real well and don't bring attention to ourselves...

Bolt the thing on and go ride.

Off soapbox now, thanks, I needed that.... Peace .

Once of the 2 nice things about Florida (other than the weather) is that you can pretty much do anything you want to your sled OR car & unless you act like a douchebag, the cops don't bother you. Even the loudest pipes available won't get you pulled over unless you're doin' something stupid.

Of course, Daytona bike week is the exception. That's why I no longer go to Daytona, just Leesburg & Cotee River.

Well when it goes from $30 to $60 for no apparent reason, I think that sucks. And I recently renewed my CDL, and that had doubled. I have no idea what other states charge for registration. You got guys paying $120.00-$200.00 for a reg.?

What most people don't understand is modifying the air intake or exhaust, IS tampering with a pollution device in any state. Just like if you take your catalytic converters off your car or truck. It doesn't stop anybody from doin it tho. Harley has gotten out of the aftermarket exhaust business. All their exhausts have stamped the decible ratings and what motors they can be used on. Just a few years ago some were stamped "not for street use", but guys put them on anyway. I guess the government got serious about noise and Harley got scared and dropped the SE muffler line. Even Jesse James paid a $275,000 fine for selling bikes that weren't Epa compliant. As time goes by The man will go after the aftermarket exhaust mfgrs and shut them down. Really who would pay $1,000 for an exhaust that's as loud as a stock system?.,
