You can always wear armour under your jacket and it will probably stay in place better anyway in a crash.

You know, you are absolutely right.

although it would not be as convenient, but good point.

What about Hillside? I see that they have a nice D-pocket jacket in horsehide also.

Man, if you stopped buying Chinese you wouldn't be buying anything! That's our government at work!

But we won't stop buying chinese goods until a good number of our children have died fighting china. And even then...

But speaking about the sad lack of american ingenuity, I had an unpleasant email with the owner of Aerostich about their roadcrafter suit. I was wondering why it didn't have the modern features of the imported brands. He just said that people like it that way and they aren't changing it.

Nice.

So now if I want a full suit, I have to pay through the nose for outdated zippers and textiles, or I have to buy f'ing chinese.

God damn it.

I got my first Schott Perfecto in 1961. I'm on my fourth one now. It's the only thing I ride in, although I want a Schott 125 without the belt in front the next time. A perfect match for Redwing engineer boots -- the made in USA variety, a pair of 501s and you're set.

We will never fight the Chinese. Buy a book on China's history and read it.

And, yeah, that "outdated" stuff is a bitch. That's why I love my Harley...

Got the Leathup today that I had originally ordered. I will start by saying I have made other purchases and been very happy. Especially my Outlaw helmet. Now the Classic "premium Leather Biker Jacket is just CHEAP. Not any way shape, form way even close to the Schott I tried on or my FXRG (for sale).
It was worth ordering and seeing to know. 1 good point was the zippers looked and felt great.
As for me I dont like the FXRG style wise so its a Scott 118 and I have reconsidered Fox Creek and will add the Classic II to have a vented jacket as well.
I will update as they come in.

i had a schott and i gotta be honest while a nice jacket it feels like a fashion leather compared to a vanson. if you're going to spend a good amount of money i would consider vanson jackets, the Model-B wears like a piece of iron, made still says Made in the USA, not sure if they've moved all production overseas or not.

i got my vanson model-b at closeout from a guy going under for $325 new with tags and warranty. i sold my old schott for like $250 on ebay.

i agree leatherup was total cheap crap, at least the piece i bought. didn't last five minutes before the seams came undone.

What do abrasion tests say about thick, but soft, leather as compared to thick, but stiff, leather?

I bet that the idea that the leather has to be stiff to give proper protection is a myth propogated by people who buy lots of stiff leather and make it into jackets.

Just speculating though, I really don't know.
