Default Motor question

Purchased a used 06 softail.
Its an 88 inch motor with 95 inch kit and it is supposed to have SE cams.
If I pull the cam cover plate will I be able to see the end of either cam and if so, should there be a number stamped to identify if they are actually SE cams and which ones?
If not, what has to be done to id the cams?
Thanks.

Contact the owner who "supposedly"put it in there to verify it.

Ask who did the work, a dealer should have it on file, by VIN. If an indy did the work the seller should have a reciept or the the indy may have some files on it.

I think you'll see maybe SEH 203 or perhaps SEH 255 on the end of the cams if they're Screamin' Eagles.

I went to the dealer. Its not in the computer, as far as cams, but the mechanic was there who did the work and says they definitely did change the cams but he is not 100% sure which ones went in.
Thats why I was asking if its simply a matter of me taking that cover off and being able to see something or if any numbers would be hidden by gears.
Someone who knows the internals of these motors would have to answer that.

No...

Taking the cam cover off will not give you a clue. Now, if you also remove the cam support plate and then the cams from the cam plate, you should find a stamped number on the side of the cam lobe indentifying the cam(s).

(Mine have SE204 on them, because that's what they are.)

Thank you CroK. Thats why I did not want to just "take the friggin cover off".
Appreciate the help.
Might be more to it than I am able to do regarding the cam plate and the actual cams.
