Del - that brings back some great teenage memories - I grew up just over the PA line in Chadds Ford.

When I was sorting out my ride I got into the habit of asking the "out the door price". I think after you find the exact model/color bike you want you can do most the leg work over the phone or inter web. I live in central FL but was willing to go as far as Atlanta if the price was right. With your range in mind you can get a list of dealers to hit up - then play em against each other.

Just to test the prices call up Jessie or Smooth at Seminole HD in Orlando - they had the best deal in the south east and would rahter make a little off each bike but sell bunches of em. They should give you a number under MSRP to float around. Shoot you may want to get a one way ticket to O-town and ride that sucker back?

Good luck.

Everybody is correct.
1. It's a great deal and it is not going to get any better in August, probably worse.
2. Skip the POS plan. You can start on the Harley just fine.
3. You should not have deceived the salesman.

Yep good deal, you should jump on it. And, I'm gotta agree that you can't deceive the sales guy, it may screw you down the road.

When I started looking for a new bike I was up front with all the saleman, told them I was planning on buying in Feb. Well I hit the right dealer in October and they made me a deal I could not pass on. Treat people how you want to be treated and life will be a lot easier.

I dunno ...guess I'll be the lone dissenter here.

Sounds like you may run your finances pretty tight , we've all done it , many still do, I won't if I can help it.

I'd get the POS bike and ride it a year while your saving up a good down payment for next year.

If you buy a POS bike at the right price you won't lose on selling.

Paying off a loan ( your car )toward the end is not saving much on interest as most has been already paid.

Eat enough PBJ and ramone and you might be able to pay cash next year.

If not see what rate a credit union can give you before you negotiate with the dealer.

Say...isn't this the same OP who doesn't have their m/c endorsement? So how can you say you didn't "fib" to sales rep if you aren't even licensed to operate the bike?

I'd say get legal first...then shop.

yeh thats me. license class is beginning of march to get M endorsed. but im gonna pay the $8 written test just to get the permit and in march i'll finish it off. i want the bike now while i can get a good deal or atleast i hope. beside i dont plan to ride till march or later so i dont need the actually license just yet.
He never asked me if i had a license and what does it matter if i do or dont i buy it it's mine..right? i was just trying to figure out how i would get it home without it and i did

Niether i drove up Hannums and they have the no payment for 210 days that will give me more time to save loot.

soo.. back to the main question please................. can anyone reccomend what i should try and negotiate lowwering?

Is anyone gonna give me real help or we still talk about fibbing?

Correct me if I'm wrong here.....doesn't the OP have to have a (learner's) permit first to get insurance on the new bike purchase?
