Thats actually a good idea. but ill have to call the bank and see how much more loot i owe on the car. i was only planning to spwend a 1k on something. like i said a POS to get my skills back. i havent rode in about 15 years im kinda nervous about just jumping on a new harley and running wit it.
So, have them deliver the bike and get your butt to an MSF course for a refresher (edit - I see that you have it planned in March - good deal).
That's what I did when I went 10 years between riding - then bought a brand new Suzuki Boulevard (ok, so it wasn't quite as expensive as an HD). The point of the story is that the class did what I wanted (for very little $$) in knocking some of the rust off my skills.
Then of course, I went and got tired of not having the power I wanted, so moved up to a used Street Glide. If I had it over to do again, I would have just bought the SG to begin with - and then it would have been new!
I have found the dealers are most negotiable on what costs them the least and you the most, that is labor and high margin accessories. they do not have a lot of room to move on the bike itself but there's a ton of margin on accessories. When I bought my LR from Smaltz I got them to switch rims with another bike and put a bobtail fender on to seal the deal. This was after I already had them $1500 under MSRP. I bought in late July and got an '06 when the '07s were coming out.
So do me a favor for all you thread crashers. Shut your kock holsters and save your miserable lives for your wives!
LOL, "kock holsters"?!? Really nice. Classy.
Not going to make many friends with that attitude. Try to be a bit more understanding of why some posters think you weren't 100% truthful at the dealership and they might be willing to help you.
I live here. Hannum's and Mike's both bump thier prices. Makes it easier for them to deal. But, is it really a deal? Seaford sells at suggested dealer price. Can you negotiate with them? Yes, but it won't sound as good as the others because it didn't start as high in the first place.
As for holding off until August?? Go for it. Harley wants the new bikes treleased in time for display at Sturgis. I believe the official start date this year is 8/8/11. That means anything with a 2011 date on it is leftover at that time. That's when you'll see $1000 knocked off before you walk in the door. Trust me, if they, any of them, don't have what you want in their leftovers, for a fair deposit, they'll find it for you.

Fair enough. I am certainly willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and welcome you to the forum.
I can understand how frustrating it is to seemingly not get the information you are asking for, but if you take the time to understand some of the critical posts, there is some good information in them. Almost all forum members here are really looking to help, not flame.
Oh, and if it were me - I would get the bike now and try to defer the payments out if you can. Prices are best during the winter months. No need to waste $$ on a beater - you will be fine with a few minutes of practice as long as you ride with care. Good luck with it!
