I can't speak for every model but the illusion that there isn't much margin on bikes is just that, an illusion. When I bought my 2010 Ultra, which was stock except for the secuity system I paid $2k under retail. The bike list for around $23k and estimated on floor dealer cost was around $19,400. Some dealers will get serious, others won't, but I'd at least try for something better than prep and freight, minimally $1k or better in accessories, 1000 miles service free etc.
Don't let anybody bullshit you about new models. Harley Davidson keeps better secrets than the Pentagon. That Wide Glide may not be available in the winter of 2011 if they stop making them at the end of the model year. The new model year bikes come out around the third week of July. Anybody that tells you they know what is coming or will be available or out way prior to that is a liar. Remember the Wide Glide has only been back out for a couple of years so production could stop this year...or maybe not.
I think Spangler is on the right path. Since you haven't ridden for a long time take the MSF course. That gives you a couple days to refresh skills, get a discount for your insurance and maybe get another discount for the bike.
"I'de like to know in what way did i lie and decieve a sales person."
You said yourself, that you walked in and acted like you were going to buy.
When obviouly it was not you intention to do so. Thats certainly deceiving if not lying in my book.
In my opinion, you would have been better off, and determined real fast if the salesman wanted to help you or not, had you been honest and told him you would not be able to purchase until Aug. If he blows you off cause you are not buying today then maybe another salesman or dealer would be better. However if he knew you weren't buying today and still offered to help and give advice, then he probablly was a honest and helping salesman.
You also stated later in another post, you were looking for negotiating advice. So I will offer some to you now.

Seems like you're a little short on both. LOL
I was going to be very sarcastic but i learned something from Colorado Mac. so ill keep my genius name callings to myself and just say... i'll think about you when im riding off next week on my new 2011fxdwg
Years ago when I was buying, I had dealerships offering $$$ in dealer merchandise. The best was $500 in parts and or service. Sounds like you already got a deal if they knocked off prep and shipping. Maybe if you told the salesguy right off the bat that you wanted to wait due to finances, he may have come up with a way to finance it right there. Go give that salesguy a shock and walk back in ready to buy.

Really man, who gives a **** if he lied. Youre wasting way to much of your time and energy beating a dead pointless horse. The sales game is all about deception and lies. Where do you think car saleman got a bad name. You can end up with anything from an upstanding guy to a dirt bag. Either way, they have their own interests to look out for.
OK, called him back and said id be in next week to strike a deal. i just hope i get a low finance charge and can cut some of the bs charges out or ill have to wait alittle longer and look around.
can anyone reccomend what i should try and negotiate lowwering?
im already gonna tell him im wont pay for frieght and assemble. at $14,099 for the bike i thinnk its worth it but should i try lower or ask for something else? is there something i should expect in dealing?
I'm new at the negotiating motorcycle deals
$14,099 is below MSRP. Pull the trigger and get that bike!! You won't regret it.
