I let them know they are too close. If they continue to follow, at the next light, I put the jiffy down, get off the bike and walk back. I then have a heart to heart talk with them, I then ask for next of kin, so I can notify.

Seems like there can be miles of bumper to bumper up ahead and people just have to get by one more vehicle. If people just gave each other some room there would be alot less accidents. I just keep flashing my breaks, not much good though.

I have had good success with waving my left hand in a 'back off' motion down and back. I may need to repeat it 2 or 3 times but most will back off quickly. I then flash the peace sign and ride on. This works MUCH more often than not. I think most people just get caught up in the rush and forget to give us room. Good manners usually prevail when reminded. If the above does not work remember to give yourself a LOT of space from the car in front of you. You control that safety zone and if anything goes bad you have some reaction/avoidance room.

I will then start looking for a pull out zone, one that is safe and puts me at no risk. I will then pull over and let them by.

I have been known to: hock a lugee and let fly and, to give them the one finger salute as they drive by, I don't recommend these as pizzing someone off in a car or SUV can leave you being pretty vulnerable.

Take it easy and take it slow and get in lots of miles, stay safe.

the back off hand signal can work pretty good, or tapping the brake light, if that doesn't work; best bet is to get hte tail gator in front of you

I slow down and try to let them get ahead of me. I have much more control with they are in front of me.

That would do the trick LOL

Tailgators are serious problem here. like you don't have enough to watch out for ahead without worrying about getting run over from behind! [:@]

I wave them off. Usually that's enough. If they insist on riding my tail, I'll slow WAY down, and if I can find a slow moving car, I'll ride alongside at the same speed not letting the tailgater get by for a while. Then I look for a place to get out of the way and let the, by now freaking out, idiot by.

Since I only get into the lefthand lane when I'm passing other vehicles, I don't get a lot of tailgaters, so thankfully, I don't have to deal with them very often.

Cheers!
