Well after 6 months in the waiting i picked up my new 2011 sportster 48,
on the 25 january i rode 45 k`s and went home . The next day was Australia day ( Yay) a day off work , new harley 48 ,sun was shining .
i rode into town where i was meeting a mate to go out and get some K`s on the bike , Anyways while waiting for him i look over the 48 and saw oil over the cam cover and oil coming out of the middle of the motor , so then it was off to the local harley shop ( public holday they were closed ) called the head mechanic on his mobile and he came over ( which i was very grateful ) he opened the shop to check the 48 , there are like 8 -10 bolts on the cam cover and only 1 bolt was tight the rest loose , so that was easy fix , Problem was the oil leaking from the centre of the motor

Anyways the next day had a call from the harley shop , Yep your new 48 needs the motor removing and new seals installed , like **** 60 k`s on the clock and now the motor is coming out.

Dont i feel ripped off or what Harley Davidson What is going on ???

6 months waiting all to be let down like this ....to say i`m a little pissed off is understated .

MY 48 BLUES

Wow - that is a bummer. Not to worry - they'll get 'er fixed right & soon you'll be enjoying miles of smiles. At least you still have good riding weather ahead - we're getting hit by another snowstorm...UGH!

Sorry to hear about the problem. The 48 is such an awesome bike and I hope riding it will erase the memory of this first time out. I'd love to have one in my garage.

Dude that sucks big time, but at least it's going to be fix under warranty and it seems like the shop stepped up and helped you out. I don't know of a dealer here that would open up on a Holiday to looks at one bike. hang in there and you will back on it soon.

Sounds like an assembly line screw-up. But I'm sure they will get it fixed. That 48 is a nice bike.

It's just marking it's territory

they'll make it right, after all its just like a big tractor engine(just make sure to ask the dealer for there best tech.to do the repairs)you dont need a newbie working on that motor.

If it is coming apart anyway see if they will do any engine mods you want and not charge the labor Sorry to hear about your first good ride going south but make the most of it.

Yeah, don't just let them return it to stock.
A guy here at work had a bran new Heritage that the engine went on it. Harley upgraded him to a 110 cui from a 96 for free.

If the engine is bad and it is a manufacturer defect, Harley will make it right, but sometimes you have to push the dealer a bit or get them to call the local Harley Rep. Either way, you should get some free engine mods out of it.
