I'm on my 2nd set of speakers. The first was the "Two-wheel-tunes" system. They were 2" speakers driven by an exterior amp. They looked nice & small, but the small speakers just couldn't handle the bass load, and I had to replace them 3 times.
Now, I'm using the "Rumble road" speakers. They're 3" in diameter, set into reversed spotlight housings. They have individual, internal amps, so the wiring was real simple. The speakers hide somewhat behind the windscreen, but even with it off, they don't look all that bad.
Both systems worked well with the I-pod I had ('till the hard drive fried), but now I'm using a Phillips "Go-Gear" Mp3 player. It's small, and just slightly under-powered, so I backed it up with a small AA battery-powered pre-amp from Radio Shack. I've got a volume control between the two, and the dial is big enough that I can use it with or without thick winter riding gloves.
Anyway, that's what I've got. I'm happy with it all for now, at least something alot better for not much money comes along...
I would love to have speakers on my bike but I just can't have them sitting on the bars...I like the clean look. Still haven't seen a set that would suit me.
