For those of us without fairings, what's a handlebar speaker system for an MP3 player? Preferably something that doesn't look like twin spotlights facing backwards. (I'd get the windshield mounted Boom, but sometimes I ride without the screen, plus I have a tach in the way.)
What are some of the good products out there? I've been looking at HD's Boom, Chrome, and some of the no-name ebay ones. What have your experiences been with them?
We did those on a friend's bike about 4 years ago. Had to hide the amp between the tanks, and used a console pouch to put the MP3 in. As I recall, they were HD brand and cranked pretty good (you could easily hear over the Double-D pipes).
Stay away from the shark system! It's a nice looking setup but it's not nearly loud enough.
Look for a system that lowers the volume as you slow down. Not sure there is an aftermarket system that does it but,It is a VERY nice feature. That was the problem I had. I had to have it cranked to hear it cruising but it would kill me when I stopped of slowed down. Finding an in line volume control while braking is hard to do and dangerous!

I've been looking at the Boom system that goes on the bars. In the dealership it's plenty loud and sounds pretty good cranked. I think that's what we're gonna end up doing

There is an aphone app that will raise and lower volume based on speed. I don't remember the name but there is an "Iphone App" thread on the forum
Just found a youtube video on the Harley boom handlebar speaker kit ...... dont know to much about amps but it says the power is 50 watt now that seems a little low compared to other brands .... maybe someone can jump in on this because this sounds too low ... cycle sounds premier 3in speaker amp kit 200 watt .....
I have the cycle sounds 3 inch 200 watt system and am very pleased with it. Plus I have a riders claw as well. you can get both at www.ridersclaw.com Tell Ken conroskie sent you...

Hey Conroskie, you're not too far from me! I might bump into you sometime at Knuckleheads, Big Dawgs, or over at Zylstra's HD. If so, I definately want to check out your system!
And bring the gal in your avie!
