Hoka Hey, Brother. Any idea on where the run is this year?
HOKA HEY!!
Got it on pretty good authority that it's starting in Phoenix this year and going to Glace Bay Nova Scotia. I was told yesterday that they are changing the start to Phoenix from San Diego. Also was told they won't be going into Mexico and that Harley Davidson is on board this year and one of the checkpoints is going to be the Museum in Milwaukee.
Supposed to be coming out with all this on the website around the middle of this week.
It's all rumor till it happens but that's what I was told yesterday.
Looking forward to your written account when it's over.
After all the positive feedback I got from the last one I've decided that I'm going to take a digital voice recorder, camera, notebook and a PDA so I can do short daily updates. Also gonna get a good GPS tracking device so people can track me. The one my company gave me last year left allot to be desired.
I want to write a combined story going over the 1st one again in more detail and getting into some of the physiological and personal aspects as well as some of the philosophical.
It made a pretty profound personal impact on myself and many others that rode it and I want to get into that much more.
Also want to write about the differences between the 1st one and the one coming up. I get the impression this next one is going to be much more rider friendly....Because of what I've heard and read I've been referring to it as the "pussyfication" of the Hoka Hey.
I hope that characterization is misplaced but we shall see.
If ANYONE pisses me off in this upcoming week... i will GLADLY tell them how i feel and get fired.
If.. and when... it happens i'll gladly join another HDF member on the journey.
I almost wish i'd get fired so i could do this ride... f*** work.. I'd rather ride across America.
It's a hell of lot more fun for sure. I could probably quit my job if I didn't spend all my $$$ on **** like the Challenge though. It's kind of a catch 22.

Man that is soooo tempting. Your account was one of the main reasons I decided to get a bike. It's only an Iron, but I'd ride it across the US like any bagger. Wish I wasn't in school right now....

Damn....I'm flattered! I don't think I've ever had a positive impact on anybody before. Most have to go see a counselor after any exposure to me.
Only an Iron? It's good enough to go anyplace that any other bike can go and better then most of the other **** out there. Don't sell it short. It wasn't that long ago that a Sporty was considered a BIG MOTORCYCLE. The only bitch I've ever had about them was that they have too many moving parts (4 cams). Now I'd rather have the 4 cams than the counterballancer that's in my 88B. I like things that are simple like me I guess.
