I don't know about other areas, but in NC they're just checking for valid licenses, nothing more. ( I suppose if you stunk of booze, that would be a different matter.)
By that logic we should allow the government to enter our homes at will because somebody might have drugs or guns.
There was a time in this country that we were citizens before we were suspects. Innocent until proven guilty and all that stuff.

I have seen cops force themselves inside people's homes before without probable cause, I have seen cops harass bikers claiming there was an illegal turn or some other such b/s just to search the bike. If there are going to be checkpoints for bikes, why not other cars too. Profiling bikers as somehow more likely to break the law (DWI, drugs, or whatever) is crap. There are good people that ride bikes and there are bad people... just like cops
I do not intend to offend any LEOs on this site... I really don't know any of you.
Being a retired LEO, I guess I am a little partial to this. I find no reason (man is this going to open a can of worms) to not stop cars, bikes, trucks, anything that could transport illegal drugs, DWI or anything in between. If you have nothing to hide, be decent to the LEO, he/she is just doing what they are paid to do and go on your way. I found as a rule 99.9% of the people were really good about the check point. It may have saved their lives or the lives of their loved ones. FWIW this is MY point of view. Do not expect any one to agree and have no issues with any not agreeing.
Coming from a leo, I understand your point of view. HOWEVER we live in the USA not RUSSIA.
You should not be able to pull us over just to see if we are breaking the law.
You should not be able to pull us over just to search and see if we have anything on us.
Leos work for the public, I feel their cars should have tracking devices, track how fast they are going while not responding to a call. Track them to see where they are going while on duty. At that even while they are off duty, ... They are representing the public and even off duty have the same arresting ability as though they were on duty so watch them all of the time.
Hey if you are doint nothing wrong then there should be nothing wrong with it right.
I drink almost everyday, but I don't drink and ride. I don't transport drugs. My bike is not illegal or dangerous. A few checkspoints don't bother me. I live in Southern California where we are being over run by illegals. The checkpoints along the roads near the border help some.
Checkpoints can be the exact thing that might prevent your daughter, son, wife, grandson/daughter from being killed. Still hate checkpoints. Enjoy the funeral!!!

Glad you don't have a problem with those who do not agree.
The rule of law means follow the rules of law, and that means everyone, not just those of us at the bottom of the food chain. Last I remember, that pesky Constitution trumps everything else.
I have nothing to hide. I'm not perfect, but I try to do the right thing. I do know that no law or policy that says a cop can ignore the 4th Amendment deserves to be obeyed. I also know that most sheeple just blindly follow with the usual cop-out of something along the lines of, "If you aren't doing anything illegal ..." Well, screw you, and screw anyone who thinks the way you do. You and those like you are freedom's death.
Your point of view is worth less than the opinion of the worst neo-**** skinhead's thoughts on ______________ (fill in the blank with something relating to Israel, blacks, etc.).
they are called licence checks and are going on for cars, trucks, bikes here in Ga..did you all forget driving is a privilege not a right and you sign consent when you sign for your licence.Get over it.
And you people who think the Patriot Act is going to far I guess you really don't follow what's going on in this world today. It's not the 06's,70's,80's anymore.Y'all will be the first ones screaming the govt and intel wasn't doing their job because we got attacked.Get with the times.
