I bought a leather jacket from Leatherup. Also bought a pair of chaps. I ordered the naked leather style. The leather is thick in both the jacket and the pants. They both are heavy, but they aldo have zip out linings which helps a little with the weight. I've ridden with them for about a month on the chaps and a couple of months with the jacket. Mostly cold to cool weather and they do keep you fairly warm. Add some layers and you can get toasty. I think these will be too heavy for summer riding in the South, so I'll likely add a mesh jacket to the mix. The sizing of most of the jackets and pants/chaps is at least one size smaller than advertised (think large = medium).
I'm really thinking of either Tourmaster or First Gear or Olympia for mesh style clothes, but definitely want something that's abrasion resistant, vented, and waterproof.

Reason: spelling
Only if you get it in Bright Goober Green, Arrest Me Red, or Brain Donor Blue . . . otherwise I'm thinking you'll be OK . . .
I have a First Gear Textile and a Fox Creek Leather. Very happy with both. Might consider a mesh Jacket for 90+ days though as it does get toasty out here in the Summer.
Ok, guy, thanks for all your help. I'm so fussy, but spent a few hours checking everything out and think I found one on leatherup. Really can't beat their prices. I'm going with a mesh jacket, removable waterproof lining and vest, and it's so cheat I might try a set of mesh riding pants too. Even the gf found one that she likes on that site.
Back to stage one... leatherup order came to $209, shipping came to $150 to canada, and I'd have to pay fedex a fee on top of that. So order becomes over $400. Not a good deal.
Lol, you'd think so, wouldn't you? What ever happened to just trowing something in the mail? I don't think it's to much to ask that I not have my coat flown here. I can't even afford to fly, what makes them think I'd pay to get a jacket a plane ticket. I bet they'd fly it first class and give it a nice meal for that price though.
+2 on the Fox Creek vented racing jacket. Very good jacket.
I've decided on this one as well, but I seriously need to lose about 30 lbs before putting that much money into a jacket lol. I'd hate to buy something for my size now, and then lose the weight and the thing not fit right any more. I'm like a medium build with a 2x tummy lol.
