Default Wife's trading up, What to get?

Here is the situation. My wife bought a new 883 this summer. She is not happy with it at all. To top heavy, she's dropped it twice in parking lots due to uneven pavement and how top heavy it is. (by the way she passed her BRC on the sporty) What big twin would be the best? Obviously the deluxe can be lowered to get the lowest seat height of any harley, but the streetbob doesn't seem as imposing of a bike. She took my softail (lowered 2 inches) around a parking lot yesterday and did fine. Any suggestions? Michael P.S. Opinion's on all Harley's not just the two I mentioned

I personally found the sporty too top heavy feeling too.

I bought the Deluxe for the feel and stability. I actually demo'd the Fat Boy first (which got me totally hooked) but fell in love with the look of the Deluxe. The seat height is already very low so unless she is very petite she should do fine. I know girls/women that are 5' 4" and riding them just fine. I actually had to have the seat modified because at 5' 8" I was a bit cramped.

Best bet is to have her sit on a few bikes and demo the ones she thinks she feels most comfortable on...most dealers will accomodate the demo rides. I tried several bikes before I finally decided just to be sure I was comfortable.

Good luck..

I gotta agree with Bluerose. Go with the Deluxe. Balance is Awesome, its easy to ride, comfy, and has the lowest center of ravity of any Harley. Wife never rode before this past June, she took Riders edge, and hated the buell that she tested on, never wanted to ride any bike again, but she sure loves her Deluxe. Has over 3000 miles in the short time she has had it.

Take her down to the dealer and let her sit on a few. Let her pick her own. I think any of the softail line would be best. A softail with an after market thinner seat and have tha bike lowered can put the seat height around 22 to 23 inches.

My wife had a XLH1200 and could handle it very good. She's only 5'3". The she sat on a Heritage Softail Classic and picked it up like nothing. Needless to say, she rode out on the Heritage.

My old lady is picking up a RK. We went and sat/rode a ton of bikes this past weekend and the RK fit her the best. Don't be scared of the big headlight.

My wife rides a Heritage and it is 1" higher than the Deluxe. Either one balances so well that they will almost stand up by themselves. Lowriders are also a very good choice, as I am sure a Street Bob or SuperGlide would be.

Any of these should be a good choice and the decision should be made based on the kind of riding you do.

If she is more into aggressive riding, the Dyna family is probably going to be the best choice. The Softails in Heritage and Deluxe are going to touch down sooner in the corners than the Dynas.

For traveling and classic good looks the Softails get my nod. In my opinion the Deluxe is the best looking bike that HD is currently making.

Regards,

Bill

Get a Dyna Low Rider. Good balance, and low seat for her.
