Got to have a facebook account to view those. Man that engine .. it actually looks pretty good internally. Was looking at the frame and body parts. kind of looks like the same crud or corrosion effected the frame and rear wheel but the tins and front end look good. Sort of looks like the bike was stored outside under a cover for many years with the lower parts showing the effects. I'd still try a buffing wheel, but I think your lady may say that's crossing the line if you do that in the living room ... lol.
Seal up all the openings, take the motor to a car wash, spray a good cleaner on it, "pink stuff" is a brand name, automotive stores sell it. Spray it down, let it set a few minutes and take the car wash hose to the motor. Will come out looking good. Then you can paint it if you want. This is what I always did with my cars, the engine compartment and engine was spotless.
Peace
HAHAHA! Yea you definitely have a point there! I think I'm going to try your buffing wheel idea that sounds like it'll work well. A lot of the other parts I have are going on ebay thats including the frame and tranny and whatever else I don't need. I have an old Midwest frame for the motor. thanks for the idea man, I may just give the OL some earplugs and get after it later today!
So the pink stuff is that like a degreaser? I bought a bunch of stuff the other day I may have to look for that one too. How would I seal up the openings? I think I heard someone say that I can buy covers for the lifter blocks and for the jugs too but I bet some old rags or t-shirts would do the trick. Sounds like a good idea before putting the buffing wheel on it

Make some blind flanges out of thin plywood, masonite or metal where you can bolt them up with a little silicone and you should be good. On other openings, just good old duct tape should do the trick, but use the good stuff...that cheap **** won't stick.
