They are only loud if you ride em loud. Ride like a sane mature person and they aren't any louder then any other exhaust and actually quieter then most.

They have a NEW noise ordinance where I live and they are gung ho about it. I haven't been stopped yet and I ride all over downtown where all the complaints originated that prompted the noise ordinance.
The Thunderheader may be a bit loud, but they have real nice low throaty tone. They sound like power.
The pipes that I don't like to ride with are those straight pipes that crackle like a friggin popcorn machine. Those things are hard on the ears. They sound like my lawnmower with a bad spark plug.
